Welcome to our nursery
From tiny acorns great oaks grow!
We realise how important your ‘little acorns’ are and aim to provide the best possible start to their journey through education. So we are excited to tell you about the opening of Eastrop's Nursery in September 2019. We will have a purpose built building, on the site of Southfield Junior School, consisting of two rooms, one for 2-3 year olds and one for 3-4 year olds, both rooms having direct access to a secure outdoor forest and classroom area.
Eastrop’s Nursery will offer provision in which parents and carers will be able to use funded hours and/ or purchase additional hours, as well as wraparound care for before / after nursery (subject to demand). It will be a home packed-lunch setting in which children who are staying all day, or start at midday, can bring a lunch to enjoy with their friends.
Our vision is to offer an exciting, stimulating learning provision where the children are nurtured in a caring environment. You and your child’s happiness is of primary importance to us, so each child will be allocated a key worker. Key workers will build up positive relationships with both your child and family. They will observe and work with your child to plan for their individual needs and their next developmental steps.
Meet our Nursery Teacher and Early Years Leader
My name is Lucy Mitchell and I have worked as a qualified teacher in both Nursery and Reception Classes for twenty years. I have a passion for Early Years education and I love seeing how the children develop and progress so quickly. I am a mum and this has helped me to realise the importance of home-school partnerships. I enjoy using the great outdoors to enhance the children's learning (in rain or shine!) and I am very excited about starting my new role at Eastrop.
